1 Year Yesterday!

I can't believe I didn't acknowledge that yesterday was The Gut Gazette's 1st Birthday!
For this whole month I keep reminding myself that it has almost been 1 year since I did my first post, and today as I checked when my first post was, I realized that it was April 25...oops. Oh well, that's why there's such a word as 'belated', right?

A little over 1 year ago, I was starting to be in a better place with the fact that I had to deal with gut issues day in and day out...I still wasn't very accepting, but I was open about the fact and trying everything I could to heal my stomach. I decided that I wanted to start up a blog, to document my journey to a healthier life...I wasn't exactly sure the direction my blog would go in, but I knew I wanted to blog about things that have helped me, so that maybe, perhaps, I could help someone else.

So I knew I wanted to start a blog, and I knew that I wanted to help others with digestive disorders...but I had no clue how to blog or anything along those lines. I'm not sure the exact words I typed into the google search engine, but I typed in something along the lines of Crohn's disease, and the first link that popped up was Dancing Through Life, a blog written by Ashley about her "journey as a Weight Watchers member, leader, and young woman with Crohn's disease." Her blog was SO cool (and still is), and I spent a couple hours or so just browsing through her posts. I hadn't met any one else who had Crohn's and lots of food intolerances. I thought it was so cool how much I could relate to her! I then found another blog from Ashley's blog roll called Making Love in the Kitchen, it's a blog written by a woman named Meghan, who has essentially healed herself from Crohn's all through diet and lifestyle. Again, SO cool!!!

After a few days of reading through fellow bloggers and researching what blogs were all about, I brainstormed a name for my blog and came up with 'The Gut Gazette'. April 25th was the day I created my Blogger account and wrote my first post. When I look back at that first post, I laugh. It was so boring and impersonal. The first few months were very boring posts, I really didn't know what the heck I was doing, and I was just writing posts about knowledge that really wasn't of much interest for many people. I feel so embarrassed when I look at my old posts, but it has all been a learning experience and it still is. Today I JUST put up my picture. There is finally a face behind Meg's Gut.

I wonder if this cake is gluten free?

I've definitely come a long way from my first post on April 25, 2009, but I know that my blog is yet to still develop. It is always growing, but I know that it will always be a blog about my journey to a healthier gut and soul!

Thank you for all who read The Gut Gazette, I love doing it and I love receiving comments and/or emails!

Feel free to drop me a line whenever, and I love getting comments...so don't hesistate to do so!

Have a great week!
xo Meg
